| INDO-HISPANIC SOCIETY |
It was an evening, November 2003, place Prado del Rey of Cádiz, Spain, I was with Pepe Cózar of Spain & Rajesh Agarwal of Kolkata, India. Pepe Cózar & Rajesh Agarwal both are businessman, Pepe owns a leather goods manufacturing unit in Spain and Rajesh too in Kolkata. I was the interpreter of both my friends. They asked me – what is the dream of the Spanish language teacher of Kolkata? I put my dream in words – a library with Spanish books for the teachers & students of Kolkata. Problem??, neither I have books nor a place to keep them. Pepe immediately said, “Books – I will donate.” Rajesh joined him, “The place is from my end, an apartment at Palit Street, Kolkata.” Pepe bought books, also collected books, magazines from Schools and individual houses of Prado del Rey. 3000 books were sent to Kolkata. Rajesh’s apartment was also ready for the library. In the month of April 2004, the dream became reality. By this time Subharansu Banerjee, a student of Spanish language has joined us, his voluntary service put new hands at work. Pepe still continues his support to the Society in cash and kind. Rajesh is no more among us, cancer has taken him away from us, physically but he still remains in our heart. May his soul live in peace. |
